Temporary Graduate Visas

A Temporary Graduate Visa gives International students the opportunity to continue to study, work and live in Australia once their studies have been completed.

There are two types of Temporary Graduate Visas:

Graduate Work Stream

A Graduate Work Stream Visa allows International students who have recently graduated with qualifications and skills that are applicable to certain occupations, to continue to study, work and live in Australia on a temporary basis.

With a Graduate Work Stream Visa, you can stay within Australia for a temporary period of up to 18 months. Within the 18 month period, you may leave and return to Australia as many times as you wish. The Visa cannot be extended longer than the 18 month period, however, you may be eligible for another type of Visa.

When applying for a Graduate Work Stream Visa, you can include members of your family in your application. If successful, you will be able to bring them with you.

To be eligible for a Graduate Work Stream Visa, you must be under the age of 50 and have skills or qualifications that are applicable to particular occupations.

Post-Study Work Stream

A Post-Study Work Stream Visa allows International students who have recently graduated from an Australian educational institution with a degree qualification, to continue to study, work and live in Australia on a temporary basis.

With a Post-Study Work Stream Visa, you can stay within Australia for a temporary period of between 2 and 4 years after completing your degree. The length of your Visa is dependent on whether you’ve graduated with a Degree, Masters or Doctorate and differs between different levels of education. The length of this Visa cannot be extended, however, you may be eligible for another type of Visa.

Similarly to the Graduate Work Stream Visa, you can include members of your family in your application; allowing you to bring them with you if your application is successful.

To be eligible for a Post-Study Work Stream Visa, you must be under the age of 50; have recently acquired a degree in a CRICOS registered course; be proficient in speaking English; and hold a satisfactory Visa.
